We have lots going on this advent!
Our advent sermon series is God Bless Us Every One! The Redemption of Scrooge runs from November 28 to December 25. This series will take a look at how our living in God’s economy of grace and justice is the antithesis of the life-threatening addiction to money, success, exclusion and looking out for ourselves. The chimes of the clock-tower bells in Dicken’s classic A Christmas Carol provide a wake-up call for Ebenezer Scrooge and turn him from his resentment, fear and isolation. Just as God’s presence was born anew into this world, we too can be born anew, woken up and redeemed into renewed life, joy, passion, generosity, humility and love. Watch the promo video here.
Alongside our advent sermon series comes a book by Matt Rawle called The Redemption of Scrooge: Connecting Christ and Culture. Read one section of this book as a devotion each day during advent. Pick up your copy from the church office. Suggested donation: $10.
Our small group study on The Redemption of Scrooge is being held on Wednesdays at 1 p.m.
Hanging of the Greens is on Sunday November 27 at 11 a.m. immediately following the worship service.
The service on Sunday December 18 will include our All-Comers Christmas Pageant. This will be followed immediately after the service by Christmas Morsels and the opportunity to stock up on those final Christmas gifts. There will be Christmas cookies, cakes, candy and other goodies all carefully wrapped and looking gorgeous.
We have adopted a family in need through Women of Worth for Christmas. Please choose a tag off the Christmas Tree, purchase the requested gift, and return it wrapped under the tree by December 13.
